Kanika Sharma’s talk will explore Smart Eye’s journey in developing PathPal, an AI-enabled assistive device that supports visually impaired individuals with independent mobility and everyday accessibility. She will discuss the challenges of developing and refining embedded AI technologies, including computer vision, edge AI, sensor integration, hardware development, real-world validation, and user-centric design.

The session will also highlight the importance of real-user testing, field feedback, transitioning from prototypes to commercialisation, and building partnerships across academia, industry, government, and the assistive-technology ecosystem. Tested with more than 600 visually impaired users and receiving over 98% positive feedback, PathPal offers valuable insights into developing inclusive, user-centred, and globally relevant AI and robotics solutions.

This session will be of interest to students, educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, technology professionals, and anyone interested in artificial intelligence, robotics, assistive technology, accessibility, and deep-tech innovation. Join us for an engaging conversation on transforming real-world challenges into meaningful technological solutions.
