IHFC (TIH of IIT Delhi) organised Lab to Market Workshop at IIEST, Shibpur

Innovation creates real impact when research moves beyond the laboratory and reaches the market.

 

With this objective, IHFC (TIH of IIT Delhi) organised a Lab to Market Workshop at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur on 27–28 February 2026, in collaboration with our Co-Innovation Center @ IIEST Shibpur and GLF Business School. The workshop aimed at building a translational mindset among researchers and enabling structured pathways for technology commercialization.

 

The workshop commenced with inaugural remarks by Prof Avijit Banerjee (Director, GLF Business School), Dr. Sangita Garg (VP & Head, R&D, IHFC), and Prof Arindam Biswas (Dean Academics, IIEST Shibpur), highlighting the importance of translating academic research into market-ready innovations.

 

Key sessions on Day 1 included:
– Introduction to Translational Research & Lab to Market by Dr. Sangita Garg, Dr. Susha Lekshmi.S.U, PhD (Senior Program Manager, R&D, IHFC), and Vaibhavee Priya (Senior Executive, R&D, IHFC).
– Design Thinking for Lab to Market by Prof. Subhasis Bhaumik (IIEST Shibpur).
– Go-To-Market Strategy by Prof. Avijit Banerjee.
– Finance & Accounting for Innovation Projects by Raution Jaiswal (CEO & Founder, InsuredMind).

A special highlight was the discussion on startup journeys from the IHFC ecosystem, featuring Ayudyog, Mountford Health Pvt. Ltd., and ViTachyon Robotics, providing practical insights on translating research into ventures.

 

On Day 2, Argha Basu (Product Manager, NELCO) shared perspectives on product development, while Kalpana Majumdar (CEO, Date Glue Consulting LLC) spoke about the entrepreneurial journey of technology commercialization.

 

Sessions on Intellectual Property & Regulatory Compliance by Sougata Murmu and a HealthTech innovation case study by Dr. Avik Ghose from Tata Consultancy Services, along with insights from Parimal Khade (Joint Director, CDAC), provided valuable industry perspectives on Intellectual Property and Innovation Exchange.

 

The workshop concluded with group presentations applying design thinking, business strategy, finance, and IP frameworks to real innovation cases. In the valedictory session, Prof. Subir Kumar Saha, Prof. Pratik Dutta, and Tanmay Pal acknowledged the participants’ engagement and emphasised the importance of innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

 

Through such initiatives, IHFC continues to strengthen the ecosystem for translational research and technology commercialization, enabling innovations developed in laboratories to reach industry and society.
